Gate Valve

 

 

Gate valves are used to cut off or connect media transmission, and are suitable for pipeline systems in petroleum, chemical, thermal power plants and other industrial fields. Gate valves can only be fully opened and disconnected in the pipeline, which means it cannot be used for regulation and throttling. Gate valve provides well on/off or shuts off features, pressure drop during operation is very less, and is bidirectional. Meanwhile as metal to metal seat, these valves can respond to specific operating high pressure, high temperature operating conditions.

Gate Valve Types
 

Gate valves come in many varieties and are categorized in many different ways.

 

1. Valve stem structure: Rising stem and non-rising stem

According to the thread position on the valve stem, it is divided into rising stem gate valve and non-rising stem gate valve.

The rising stem gate valve lifts or lowers the valve disc through the threaded transmission of the valve stem and the handwheel.

The non-rising stem gate valve uses the valve stem to rotate at a fixed point to drive the valve disc up and down to complete opening and closing.

 

2. Sealing surface: soft seal and hard seal

Soft Seal: Use high-quality rubber to tightly wrap the gate plate of the soft-sealing gate valve as a whole, which improves the sealing performance and is not easy to fall off.

Hard Seal: The valve seat sealing ring can be directly overlayed with metal on the valve body to form a sealing surface according to customer requirements. For cast iron, stainless steel, and copper alloy valves, the sealing surface can also be directly processed on the valve body.

3. Structure: parallel and wedge type

According to the structure of the gate, it can be divided into parallel gate valve and wedge gate valve.

Parallel gate valve: The two sealing surfaces of the gate are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the center line of the valve body channel.

Wedge gate valve: The sealing surface is symmetrical to the vertical centerline of the gate plate at a certain inclination angle, which is called the wedge half angle.

 

4. Connection: flange, welding (overlay welding, socket welding), clamp, threaded connection

The flange type is the most commonly used and has the widest adaptability. The model number is DN50-DN1200. This kind of valve is suitable for occasions that require frequent maintenance and replacement.

The welding type is usually used for high pressure or high temperature DN50-DN600 pipes.

The grooved type is commonly used in fire protection pipes of DN50-DN300.

Thread type is used for small diameter DN8-DN80 low pressure pipes.
